Life of a single girl

Two recent and funny stories about the adventures of a single working girl (the business professional kind - not the hooker kind).

A week ago when I was signing the deed for my new house the deed read as follows, "Genna Mugleston, an unmarried woman ..." No joke. I started laughing and of course making jokes about it when I saw that. Nothing like having your singleness permanently recorded.

Then today while cleaning the carpets at my new house the guy turns to me out of the blue and goes "So long have you been married?" I let out a little laugh and told him I wasn't married and he goes "oh then I need to find someone to set you up with." Note that I'd never met this man before this morning. The take away from this story is that even strangers are starting to feel the need to help me find a date. Lovely.

Seriously? Seriously?????

You know what I love..... The only time I run into the one guy I find attractive is after I've spent the last 12 hours painting and cleaning my new house, while wearing ugly/unflattering sweats that I didn't care if I got paint on, and with yesterday's hair and whatever makeup made it through last night and didn't get rubbed off this morning. Oh and don't worry I was also wearing slippers that still had pieces of old wallpaper stuck to the bottom of them. And in between the capri sweats and slippers were some super sexy hair legs. Awesome. #single4life

Thanks Lifetime

My Sister's Keeper is hands down one of the saddest movies ever. Thanks for the sob fest Lifetime.

One if the things I miss about life in LA

A few years back I started going to the movies by myself and realized how much I loved going to them solo. In LA it was so easy to just run up to the AMC on Santa Monica Blvd whenever I wanted to see a new movie. I could pop in and out of the theater without running into anyone I knew and just enjoy a nice little outing. Now that I'm back in St. George that's all gone. I think I've only been to two movies in the past 7 months I've been here - which is insane since I used to see like 2 a month. Today I attempted to go see Pitch Perfect but I chickened out and never even got out of my car. After seeing a few people I knew in the parking lot and seeing how crowded the theater looked I longed for the days of anonymity. While I've really loved being back in St. George and enjoying a simpler life here and being able to spend more time with my family (especially the nieces and nephews) there are always things I'll miss about life in LA and today was another reminder of that.

So, the solution to the problem..... Time to plan a trip!!

Relationships

I have quite the love/hate relationship with the elliptical. However, I think aerobic mode may help us work through our differences. Only time will tell if we have true staying power.....

Too cool.

In my pjs by 9:30 on a Saturday night. Exactly what I needed after a fairly crazy busy season. Even though I'm exhausted and can't wait to take a few days off (hopefully later this month) I still love my job and the people I work with which somehow makes all the long hours ok.

I'm alive....barely

After a whopping 5 hours of sleep (if you know me you know I don't do well without adequate sleep) I am now getting home from a 15 hour day at work. Currently sitting in my car trying to work up the energy to get out, walk in my house, and make dinner so I can keep working for a few more hours so tomorrow I won't have to work as much. Can't wait for this weekend to be over!

Quickly, on a good note, I'm doing a pretty great job at work which makes me extremely happy. Although long hours suck it helps to know you're doing a good job and it's being recognized!

My first project of 2012

I decided 2012 is going to be a great year. To help make sure this statement is true I've decided to take on 3 projects this year. So far I've only thought of what the first 2 of these projects will be and I'm letting the next 6 months or so help me come up with my last project.

With January quickly coming to a close, I've decided it's time to start my first 2012 project. Some of you may remember a Christmas project I made for my family a few years ago. It was a quote a day calendar, with quotes from the modern day prophets & apostles (what's that?) and each month has a different gospel topic (gratitude, repentance, revelation, knowledge, womanhood, faith, prayer, scriptures, forgiveness, family, charity, Jesus Christ). While this project was quite overwhelming at times I've decided to do it again.....kinda.

When I came up with the quote a day idea for that project I also wanted to do a scripture a day calendar, I know, such a fresh and unique idea right? :) Well, it's now 2012 and I'm finally going to make it happen! So here's the game plan, I'm going to incorporate the scripture mastery scriptures (huh?) but let's have some fun with this....

If you'd like to be involved, add a comment below this post with your favorite scripture from any of the 4 standard works (Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, Old Testament, & New Testament) and also include your date of birth. Then I'll put your favorite scripture on your birthday!

Now don't let this game stop you from adding multiple scriptures you like, I mean I do have to come with 265 more scriptures after the scripture mastery ones. Just put your date of birth next to your most favorite one. And if you're a frequenter of my blog you may remember that I've mentioned this before so if you responded then please respond again under this post just to keep it all in one place.

As you can image this project will take some time, so if you happen to see this post weeks from now, you can still totally play along!

Let the game begin!
